Times are changing and there is a shift in world dominance once again.
After WWII, economic and political dominance was in the hands of England then, with the increase of manufacturing by the US, a strong work force and a victory under their belts, the United States became the world power.
It was a unipolar world and the US was in the center of it but with the rise of BRICS, much in response to ongoing sanctions placed by the US on different parts of the world for not agreeing with the US agenda, actually, being a bully though trade, coups and wars, others have grown their economies out of desperation which has created resilience and strength in those countries.
Now there is BRICS, made up of former hostages of the US trade monopoly, challenging the old world order.
Jeffrety Sachs sums it up well in The BRICS Summit Should Mark the End of Neocon Delusions: Simply put, the majority of the world does not want or accept U.S. hegemony, and is prepared to face it down rather than submit to its dictates and A new world without "exorbitant privileges": Professor Jeffrey Sachs on why the Global South is gravitating towards BRICS
I highly recommend the video Conversation with Prof. Glenn Diesen, The Ukraine War and the Eurasian World Order where Jeffrey Sachs talks to Glenn Diesen on his book The Ukraine War & the Eurasian World Order. The two of them go into detail describing how we got where we are today with the increasing multipolairty of the world.
